Habitat Needs Your
Talents
Once
again the world needs a good carpenter – but it also needs financial planners,
computer experts, public speakers and much more.
Habitat volunteers do many things: serve on the board and its committees, help
with fundraisers, hand out information at public events, and help with bulk
mailings.
Habitat cannot build affordable housing without volunteers to work on
committees.
Without committees and their work, there
will be no funds to buy land, no opportunities
to locate families in need and therefore no change in substandard housing.

Ways
to Volunteer:
Church Relations Committee
If
you enjoy speaking to groups, writing and net-working, this committee needs you
to help build working relationships with our county churches. Work includes
meeting with church members and pastors to explain our different church programs
and speaking at church functions. Committee members also produce an affiliate
newsletter two times per year and organize events for “Building On Faith” week
in September of each year.

Family Selection volunteers facilitate the process
of
qualifying for ownership of a Habitat house. Work includes guiding future
partner families through the steps of the application process, evaluating
applications and making home visits.

Family Advocacy Committee
If
you enjoy helping people grow and achieve new goals, you may enjoy partnering
with prospective homeowners and providing one-on-one support. Volunteers must
be available to offer friendship, support and guidance as the home owners
progress through building a new home and a new life.

you are knowledgeable in financial planning, strategic planning, or real estate,
we need you to help define yearly and long term financial needs, to build
corporate partnerships, and to plan strategies for fund raising. Skills needed
on this committee include organizational, planning and public relations
abilities.
